Former Sooner Claims Gold at World University Wrestling Championships

TOKYO, Japan - Former Sooner national champion Byron Tucker claimed the gold medal 76 kg to help propel the United States to the team title at the World University Wrestling Championships. The U.S tallied 60 team points to edge Turkey (59) and Russia (56).

Tucker edged Aznaour Adjiev of Russia, 5-4, to claim the gold. He blanked Falih Koyuncu of Turkey, 6-0, in the semifinals. Tucker was also undefeated in pool competition to advance to the semifinals. He is currently ranked fourth on the senior level in the United States.
