Mracnova and Mendieta Grab Doubles Win at ITA Central Region Championships

OMAHA, Neb. - University of Oklahoma women's tennis players continued play in the ITA Central Region Championships at the Hanscomb Indoor Tennis Center on Friday. Senior Viviana Mracnova and sophomore Melissa Mendieta teamed up for a first round doubles win over Katarina Balan and Rose Ketmayura of Nebraska, 8-5. Mracnova and Mendieta are the 8th-seed in the tournament and will take on Kansas' Kim Lorenz and Emily Haylock in the second round.

Mracnova dropped her second-round singles match to Jennifer DeSpain of Tulsa, 7-5, 7-6 (7-4).

Doubles action will continue later today.
