Women's Tennis Competes in ITA Central Region Championships

NORMAN, Okla. - University of Oklahoma women's tennis players competed today in the ITA Central Region Championships in Omaha, Neb., at Creighton University. Senior Viviana Mracnova, seeded 10th in the tournament, dropped Nebraska's Leslie Harvey in straight sets, 6-0, 6-3. Harvey had defeated Sooner sophomore Annette Bryntesson, 7-5, 6-0, in qualifying rounds on Thursday.

Sophomore Melissa Menedieta fell 6-3, 6-0, to the No. 13 seed Cheryl Mallaiah of Kansas in the first round.

Mracnova continues play in the second round on Friday at 2: 30 p.m.where she will take on Jennifer DeSpain of Tulsa. Menedieta and Mracnova will play in the doubles tournament later in the weekend.
