Sooner Cross Country Teams Head To Fayetteville

OU will travel to Fayetteville, Ark., to compete in the Chili Pepper Invitational Saturday, October 14. Other teams in Fayetteville include Abilene Christian, Baylor, Hendrix, Louisiana Tech, Oklahoma State, Texas Arlington, Oral Roberts, Southern Nazarene, Southwest Missouri State, California-Davis, Kansas, Louisiana Monroe, Nebraska-Kearney and Wichita State as well as the host school Arkansas.

The men's event will be a 10K that will start at 10:30 a.m. The women's event will be a 5K and start at 10 a.m. This will be the last meet for the Sooners before the Big 12 Championship to be held October 28 in Boulder, Colorado.

Last Time Out
Brandon Kissack ran a 25:39 to pace the Sooner men at the Cowboy Jamboree. He placed 28th individually and lowered his career best in the 8K with the time. Other Sooner men to participate and their times included Joey McNair (26:30-61st), Cecil Rose (27:51-108th), Forrest Walker (28:14-119th), and Jason Brown (28:16-120th). Another Sooner runner, Darren Hutchins, posted a 27:08 but was left out of the official results due to a clerical error. The Sooner men finished 18th in the 20-team meet without Hutchins' time/place figured into the total.

The women's squad was led by Stephanie Webb who turned in a time of 19:33 and finished 39th. Other Sooners posting times were Sinead Holt (19:58-55th), Aisha Stringer (20:20-68th), Amanda Luksetich (20:36-72nd), and Kim Thomas (20:54-81st). The Sooner women were 13th overall.

OU will take next weekend off from competition. The Sooners will return to competition on October 28 when they travel to travel to Boulder, Colo. for the Big 12 Championship.
