Johnson City, Tenn. - The Oklahoma Sooners' men's golf team won the Bank of Tennessee/The Ridges Intercollegiate tournament championship by finishing a three-round six-over par at the par-72 The Ridges Golf Course today. North Carolina's Max Harris captured the individual crown with a five-under-par 211 (71-69-71). Oklahoma led from the beginning, firing a tournament-low 286 in the first round. The Sooners followed with a 290 and a 294 to finish with a three-round total of 870. Oklahoma's top individual was Chris James, who finished tied for third with East Tennessee State's Chris Wisler at 216 (even par). The Sooners had two other top-10 finishers: Kelsey Cline (tied-fifth) and J.D. Robertson (tied-ninth).
In the individual competition, North Carolina's Harris and Arizona's Patrick Norris were tied for the lead after the first day at four-under par. Harris shot a 71 in the final round to capture the individual medal.
The highlight of the tournament was provided by Clemson's Michael Hoey. Playing as an individual, Hoey used a three-iron for a hole-in-one at the 16th hole in the second round on Saturday.
The University of Arizona finished second this weekend, five shots behind the Sooners. The Wildcats' top individual, Norris, registered a 213 (71-69-73), two shots behind Harris.
The lowest team round of the weekend was recorded by South Carolina when it fired a second-round 283. The Gamecocks surrounded that outstanding performance with a first-round 302 and a third-round 300 to finish in third position with a tournament-total of 885.
