STILLWATER, Okla. -- The fourth-ranked University of Oklahoma wrestling team jumped out to a 10-0 lead but needed a David Kjeldgaard win in the dual's final match at 157 pounds to tie sixth-ranked Oklahoma State, 16-16, in front of 5,208 fans at Gallagher-Iba Arena in Stillwater Tuesday night. The tie ended OSU's 69-dual winning streak and moved both teams to 1-0-1.

OU bolted to an early 10-0 lead by winning the dual's first three matches. At 165 pounds, Robbie Waller used a reverse with five seconds remaining in the match to defeat Ty Wilcox, 4-3. Byron Tucker won by major decision over Tony Gansen, 18-7, at 174 pounds. Tom Grossman (184 pounds) overcame a 5-1 third period deficit to defeat Pat Popolizio, 8-6, in sudden victory overtime.

The Cowboys won the dual's next two matches by decision at 197 pounds and heavyweight. Mark Muoz downed Orville Palmer, 6-5, and Dave Anderton defeated Brent Boeshans, 4-1. OU's Quantres Bates won the 125-pound match, 14-11, over Jeff Ragan, to give the Sooners a 13-6 lead, but OSU won the next three matches. At 131 pounds, Charles Walker decisioned Witt Durden, 11-5. Jamil Kelly upset Michael Lightner, defeating him in the tiebreaker, 2-1, in the 141-pound match. Reggie Wright gave the Cowboys their first lead of the dual, 16-13, when he claimed a 13-5 major decision victory over Jared Frayer at 149. Kjeldgaard's 7-6 triumph over Shane Roller tied the dual at 16-16.

OU will return to action this weekend when it travels to Hempstead, N.Y., to battle Seton Hall and Hofstra. The duals will begin at noon and 7 p.m. (EST).
