NORMAN, Okla. - The Oklahoma Sooners men's golf team released its spring schedule today. The schedule includes seven tournaments, as well as the Big 12 Championships, the NCAA Central Regional and possibly the NCAA Championships.
The Sooners are hosting the Big 12 Championships this year, which will be held at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kan., in addition to co-hosting the annual Maxwell Classic in Ardmore, Okla., with Oklahoma State. The ninth-annual Maxwell by Pontiac is one of only two collegiate golf tournaments televised in the nation. OU will begin the spring season with a trip to Hawaii from Feb. 23-25.
The team finished its fall season last weekend with a ninth-place showing at the Gary Koch Invitational in Tampa, Fla. Oklahoma also competed in The Ridges Intercollegiate, the Tucker Intercollegiate and the Taylor Made Red River Classic earlier this fall, finishing in the top 10 in every tournament. The Sooners opened the year with a win at The Ridges, OU's first team win since the 1995 NCAA Central Regional.
