NORMAN, Okla. - A total of 62 women and 42 men have been named to the Academic All-Big 12 Cross Country Team, the conference announced Tuesday.
On the womens side, 35 runners are repeat performers, including eight student-athletes who made the cross country academic team for the fourth time. The following seniors have earned the distinction since the first year of the Big 12 in 1996: Baylors Karin Ernstrom, Kansas States Kelly Andra, Oklahomas Sarah Harvey and Mindy Mizell, Oklahoma States Hanna Smedstad, Texas A&Ms Ann Dwyer, and Texas Techs Tara Hangge and Kristen Koppes. Special recognition goes to the 10 females who were nominated with 4.0 grade-point averages.
A total of 11 Sooners were named to the list. All seven of the women were named to the first team while the men placed two each on the first and second teams.
