NORMAN, Okla.--The University of Oklahoma men's tennis team concluded their second day of play at the Navy Invitational in Annapolis, Md.
Junior Federico Chavarria faced Maryland's Louis Lavalle in the No. 2 singles. Victorious for the second time in singles play this tournament, Chavarria beat Lavalle in two sets winning 6-4, 6-3.
Competing at the No. 4 singles was Junior Ryan Thomas. Thomas came out strong against Maryland's Aaron Carr, winning the first set 6-4, but dropped the next two sets 0-6, 3-6 to lose the match.
Teaming up at No. 1 doubles, Chavarria and Thomas pulled out the win (8-5) against Maryland's duo of Scott Fink and Lavalle.
Sophomore Sergey Avdeyev played in the No. 3 doubles pairing with Arkansas team member Dmitry Lebedev for the second time this tournament. In a close win, 9-7, Avdeyev and Lebdev defeated the Arkansas and Maryland duo of John O'Rourke and Aaron Carr.
The Sooners finish the Navy Invitatational Sunday.
