Trio of Sooners Tabbed to Preseason All-SEC Team

Dayton, Parker and Pickering Earn Spots on Preseason All-SEC Softball Team
NORMAN - Oklahoma Softball's Abigale Dayton, Ella Parker and Kasidi Pickering were tabbed to the Preseason All-Southeastern Conference (SEC) Team as announced by the league office Thursday, Jan. 30.
The SEC provides a preseason all-league team and coaches poll as voted on by the 15 head coaches across the conference. The Sooners received two first place votes and were selected third in the preseason poll. The preseason all-league team features 21 players.
Parker and Pickering, standout sophomores who helped the Sooners to the 2024 National Championship, were also Softball America First-Team Preseason All-Americans. Dayton joined them with second team laurels.
Dayton came to OU after hitting .479 with 62 runs, 38 walks and 19 stolen bags across two seasons for the Utah Utes. Last year she was tabbed a 2024 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Third-Team All-American and was a two-time Pac-12 First-Team honoree.
Parker is coming off a breakout freshman campaign as she earned NFCA Third-Team All-American status for OU. The Los Angeles, Calif., native shined on the brightest stages, taking home 2024 Women's College World Series All-Tournament Team and Big 12 Tournament Most Outstanding Player laurels.
Pickering's freshman season was notable as well as she started in 64 of OU's 66 games, homering 12 times while driving in 51 runs and crossing home 45 times. The outfielder earned Women's College World Series All-Tournament Team recognition and was tabbed to the Big 12 All-Freshman squad.
OU's roster features 22 student-athletes, with 14 newcomers and eight returners. The Sooners bring in five transfers, including Isabella Smith (Campbell), Sam Landry (Louisiana), Isabela Emerling (North Carolina), Dayton (Utah) and Ailana Agbayani (BYU).
Oklahoma opens the season on the road in California for the third time in four years as the Sooners play in San Diego, Fullerton, Los Angeles and Long Beach across the span of four days. OU is 178-65 all-time in games played in California.
Single-game tickets for the 2025 season are on sale now. The Sooners open up at home Feb. 20 against Abilene Christian. OU's SEC slate begins at home against South Carolina March 7, with the 2025 SEC Softball Tournament being set for May 6-10 at Jack Turner Softball Stadium in Athens, Ga.
