         <description><![CDATA[The Oklahoma softball team had three players named to the 2008 Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-America teams as the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced the three squads Wednesday afternoon. Amber Flores, D.J. Mathis and Savannah Long represented the Sooners on the second team All-America squads. It marked the first All-America honor for all three Sooners.Flores, a sophomore, was a first team All-Big 12 and All-Midwest Region selection and led the squad this year with a .381 batting average with 15 home runs and 46 RBIs. Flores, an at-large selection, also set an OU single season record with 45 walks this season. Flores was also one of 25 quarterfinalists for USA Softball's National Player of the Year.]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[Oklahoma head softball coach Patty Gasso has been selected by the National Pro Fastpitch League to coach a NPF All-Star team that will face the U.S. Olympic Softball Team twice this summer, as part of their Bound-4-Beijing Tour. Gasso will team with Cindy Bristow, a private instructor, as co-head coaches of Team NPF. Bristow was head coach and assistant general manager of the Georgia Pride, which later became the Florida Wahoos, a team in the Women's Professional Softball League. "It is a pleasure and thrill for me to be coaching such an outstanding and accomplished group of the best the NPF has to offer," Gasso said. "With such an elite group, we will be able to challenge any team at any time!"]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[The Oklahoma softball team battled until the end, but its season ended in Tucson on Saturday afternoon as the Sooners fell to Arizona, 5-2, in the third and deciding game in the Super Regional. Oklahoma battled to force the third game in the best-of-three series by shutting out the Wildcats, 2-0, in the first game of the doubleheader on Saturday to even the series at 1-1.The 10th-seeded Sooners finished their season with an overall mark of 47-14 and finished second in the Big 12 with a 16-2 conference record, its second-best league record in school history. Oklahoma also won its first Super Regional game in school history after going 0-5 in its first five Super Regional contests dating back to 2005.]]></description>

The third game of the Super Regional started at approximately 4:13 p.m. (CT).Oklahoma scored two quick runs in the bottom of the first and it would be all the Sooners needed. All games of the best-of-three series will be televised live on ESPN.The series opener is slated for Friday at 6:30 p.m. (CST) at Rita Hillenbrand Stadium. The second game will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday while the third game (if necessary) will start at approximately 3:30 p.m.The Tucson Super Regional is one of six Super Regionals that will be televised by the ESPN family of networks. The Sooners and Wildcats will have all three of their games shown live on basic cable station ESPN.
