Three Sooners on Preseason All-Big 12 Team
July 20, 2007 NORMAN, Okla. - Three Oklahoma players were named to the 2007 All-Big 12 Football Team that was announced today. Defensive back Reggie Smith, offensive guard Duke Robinson and kicker Garrett Hartley all were picked for the unit with Smith also nabbing defensive player of the year honors. Smith actually earned two first-team honors as he also was tabbed as the top punt returner. An All-Big 12 Second Team selection last season, Smith, a 6-1, 197 junior defensive back, made 41 tackles, including 30 solo stops in 2006. He also had three interceptions, eight pass break-ups and recovered a fumble. In addition, he returned 37 punts for 287 yards and one touchdown. Hartley was a Lou Groza Award finalist last year when he made 19-of-20 field goals and 49-of-50 point after touchdown kicks. The 6-1, 198-pound, Southlake, Texas, native will be in his fouth year as the Oklahoma starter. Robinson, a 6-5, 330-pounder from Atlanta, Ga., played more snaps last season, 809, than any other lineman on the team. He notched 108 knockdown blocks while starting all 14 games. At season's end, he was named honorable mention All-Big 12. Oklahoma's players report for preseason camp on Aug. 1.
