Coaching Accomplishments
- In 2008, OU added two new starters at corner, but still flourished, scording two TD's. The Sooners led the high-scoring and pass-happy Big 12 in pass efficiency defense.
- Helped 2007 OU Defense to the No. 3 Big 12 Defensive pass efficiency ranking. OU was second in the conference with 19 interceptions. Three DB's (Nic Harris, Reggie Smith, D.J. Wolfe) received first-team All-Big 12 honors.

- Moved to the secondary in 2005. D.J. Wolfe and Reggie Smith, a sophomore and true freshman, respectively, both earned post-season honors. Two DBs had interceptions and long returns for touchdowns. The Sooners ranked No. 21 nationally in passing efficiency defense. In Big 12 games, OU ranked No. 1 in completion percentage defense, No. 2 in passing efficiency defense and No. 3 in passing yardage allowed.

- Wright's 2004 DE rotation of Dan Cody, Jonathan Jackson and Larry Birdine ranked No. 1, 2 and 3, respectively, in sacks among Big 12 players.
- Also the special teams coordinator in 2004, Wright saw OU rank No. 1 in the Big 12 in kickoff coverage (15.7 ypr.), while giving opponents an average of just 4.2 yards on 21 attempts.
- In 2003, he tutored a set of ends who piled up 35 tackles for loss, 20 sacks and 59 hurries. In '02, the DEs accounted for nearly half of the team's sacks. Jimmy Wilkerson earned All-Big 12 honors for the second straight year. In '01, the ends combined for 21 tackles for loss, including 18 by Wilkerson.
