ORLANDO — Oleksandra Korashvili’s incredible debut season came to an end Monday in the NCAA Singles Championships.

The Sooner was fell to Aiwen Zhu of UNLV after three sets, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.

“Today was a tough battle and unfortunately Sasha came up a little short,” said OU head coach Audra Cohen. “I’m really proud of her for a great first season at OU. She’s proven that she belongs with the top players in college tennis.”

Korashvili finishes the year at 17-9 overall. The junior rose as high as No. 19 nationally and collected eight wins over ranked opponents, including four against top 25 players.

Korashvili was tabbed to the All-Big 12 singles first team and was the league’s Newcomer of the Year. Additionally, Korashvili was selected as the ITA Central Region Rookie of the Year.

The Sooners will return to the court in August for the fall tournament slate. A schedule will be announced at a later time.
